My kind of day...

Current mood: stressed
Current music:I Hear You Now, by Vangelis and Jon

It started out decently well. Even though I got up two hours than I normally would on a Monday, it was to do my first day's bit of work for Dr. Lay, and it wasn't bad at all. Plus, I really like the new student worker Olivia Pool who I'm sort of "training," so it's all good there. Then the fit hit the shan, as it were. I found out from Becca that Theory & Pedagogy, a required course for my major, is not offered next semester, which is the suck, since I'm not enrolled in it for this semester. Thus, I panicked. I went and talked to Mr. Harle, and he printed out the syllabus and all that stuff for me, so I'll be filling out a drop/add form to join the class now.

I bet those of you who didn't know how my semester already looked are thinking, "Yay, it's all fixed." Not likely. See, my workload was already, as I've already described my previously mentioned situation, the suck. Basically, more reading (time-wise) than there are hours in the day. Perhaps I mentioned the 100+ pages of reading for Shakespeare we were assigned the first day of class to be done by the next class? Perhaps not.

But yeah. From a well-earned 15 credit hours to a whopping more-than-earned 18 hours. I'm going to die.

Mr. Positive says: But, hey, just think how breezy your last semester will be!

And I say: That's true. Too bad I won't be mentally stable enough to enjoy it.

P.S. On top of everything else, the elevator decided to stick on the third floor on my way back to my room from all of the stressful events. After several attempts to make the evil, hot, stuffy, metal box of Satan go up one last floor, I gave up, walked to the end of the hall, and took the stairs. Yippee.

Unfortunately, the decision that I have mulled over and agonized over for the past couple of months has now been made for me, and it is tearing me apart. I didn't really want to do it, but now I know I have to. I would go into more detail, but no one would understand anyway.

Best Day of the Summer? We have a winner!

Current mood: sun-baked
Current music:SNL in the background - does that count?

So last night, I drove over to Andy's apartment, and from there we went to Rafferty's and then to AMC to see X-Men: The Last Stand (weeee!), which was excellent, by the way. And for those of you who've not seen it yet, stay until after the credits, because there IS something at the end.

Anyway, Andy and I didn't do much else the rest of the night but go to sleep since it was already late. So we got up the next morning and headed off once again to the Renaissance Festival... this was our last time for the Georgia festival this year *sniffle*. The best part of the day actually came at the end, because not only did we get in a whole lot of talk time with the actors after their series of shows were over, but we also went out to eat Chinese and go bowling with a few of them and their friends from the North Carolina festival who had come down to visit them this weekend. Although Andy had one previous experience, this was the first time that I had actually seen Brett, Jana, and Dextre out of costume and in "normal" clothes, hehehehe. It was seriously some of the most fun I've had in a loooong time, and I'm glad I've gotten to know those three so that I could meet and get to know their friends from NC and Brett's family. Awesome people!!! And now it's all over... ;_; ...till next year. ^_^

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As a side note before I go, I was watching the news momentarily while searching for something on TV a little while ago, and they were saying something about how some school systems are considering (or maybe they've actually already decided, I dunno) disciplining students if they have something offensive or something on their blogs, saying they wouldn't monitor the blogs per se, but they would take action if something came to their attention. All I have to say about that is that it's a bunch of bullocks! I am so glad to be out of that completely homogay public school system. They're trying more and more to run (and RUIN) the lives of every one of their students and control things that they have no right to touch. It would be one thing if someone heard talk of murder (like, actual murder, not like my occasional jesting "I'm going to kill you" and "I wish the human race would go bye-bye" comments), but I don't think that's what they're talking about here. And anyway, if some kid is going to be stupid and actually post plans about bombing a school, that should be the feds' business, not the school system. Hey, school systems! Quit being pricks and try butting out for a change, huh?? I reiterate, and I don't think I could say it enough to overemphasize my enthusiasm, I am SO. Freaking. Glad I am out of that miserable excuse for a public school system.
Disclaimer: If any part of this post didn't make sense or seemed a little over the top, I blame the extensive sun exposure from the festival, cuz today was frikkin HOT. So... sorry about any incoherency. *sheepish grin*
Thus ends the Battle Athletes Victory legacy... and, yes, I'm feeling more than just a little bit mopey. *cries to Becca* it's over! it's over! waaah! hold me...
Tonight I'm thinking Virtuoso!
Current mood: loved
Current music:Virtuoso, by David Phelps
Dayna, Melissa, and I went to the Ballet Magnificat! tonight at Lee University, and it was amaaaazing. Sooo good... and the music was much to be sought after. I'm actually listening to the song from the finale right now called "Virtuoso" by David Phelps. ^_^ The production tonight was about Ruth, and I enjoyed it immensely.
http://www.balletmagnificat.com/
And then the three of us "surprised" our respective menfolk after their guys' night at Tony's apartment. ^_^ I enjoyed THAT immensely too, especially after not seeing Matty all weekend.
Okay, I'm done - it's time for bed. (Pray there is ice overnight so we don't have class tomorrow!! :-D)
Now, where were we? Ah, yes...
Current mood: relaxed
Current music:Music from the Scarlet Pimpernel, since we're watching it...
Saturday (cont'd): After the four of us left FCF, we came back to school briefly so that we could grab some stuff (and so I could change clothes from my now-soaking wet, freezing cold attire) and then go to Tony's apartment to make enchiladas for dinner. Matt and I went on over to preheat the oven and wash dishes while Tony and Dayna went to Walmart to grab necessary ingredients and such. Then we watched Kung Pow.... well, Matt and I did while Tony and Dayna slept, hahahaha. (We started it too late, I gather. :-D)
Sunday: First, I went to Grace Bible Church with Matt, Adam, and Laura (and of course we sat with Dayna and Tony ^_^), then we had lunch at school....yay.... Anyway, then we all parted ways to do homework or whatever until the appointed time when we would reconvene to go to Tony's again and watch the second part of Grey's Anatomy.
Monday (today): Classes happened - bleh. And then, after dinner, I spent some time in the cafe and then in the Long lounge with buddies... and then I went walking. At the end of my walk, I found Flip-Flop by Rudd (because she had been following me earlier and had given up on running behind me at about that point), so I walked up through the Triangle with her trailing behind. I stopped and sat on the hill to look up at the stars, and Flip-Flop crawled into my lap. After a bit, when I was lying down, staring up at the night sky, she shifted her resting spot from my lap to my stomach and chest, lol. So cute!! And now I'm here watching The Scarlet Pimpernel with Christina - roomie bonding time! ^_^
(P.S. I miss you...)
Weekend of Love, huh?
Current mood: chipper
Current music:Sally's Song, by Danny Elfman (from Nightmare Before Xmas)
Alrighty then! For those of you who wanted to know what those pictures on my last Xanga entry were all about, I shall recount the events of this weekend (which include said pictures - click thumbnails to see the biggies ^_^).
Friday: Valentine's Banquet!! Wicked fun, and the food was actually quite delicious (plus, it wasn't the same food they've served for all the other banquets so far)! ^_^ After the banquet itself (and many many crazy pictures), the guys blindfolded us ladies and drove us secretly to Tony's apartment and unveiled our eyes one at a time as we got to the door. They had red rose petals sprinkled across the floor and furniture, candles lit at various places around the room, and the ceiling was decorated as I shall now show in these pics:
They gave us Dove chocolate and sparkling red grape juice (which they had to go looking EVERYwhere for since it's V-day), along with some angel food cake, fresh strawberries, and whipped cream/Coolwhip. We watched Phantom of the Opera and then came back to school and played Apples to Apples until curfew.
Saturday: 11:50 AM, my cell phone rang. I was planning on going back to sleep. I only had to go to the bathroom, after all... but no. No more sleep for me. Tony called and told me of his magical plan to go to Fall Creek Falls and see the snow. So Tony, Dayna, Matt, and I piled into his car all bundled up and headed off. Once we got into the mountains, there was snow everywhere! it was beautimous!!! Matt took a bazillion pictures, but I've chosen a few good examples of the sights we saw on the way to FCF:
We had snowball fights, and I made two snow angels, one of which I gave feet and a halo! :-D I was going to bring back some snow for everyone, but they wouldn't let me keep it in the car, lol. I had a flippin huge snowball about the size of a large beach ball... actually a little bigger... and HEAVY as all get-out. It took me flippin forever to make; I gathered up handfuls of snow as we walked the trails and packed them in. My back started hurting after a while, and I sympathized with pregnant ladies, hahahahahaha. I made two, really... and the first one was about the size of a beach ball (a bit smaller than the second one) and we sent it over the side of the falls (from the second overlook we went to) and watched it splash hehehehhee. That's when I made the new one... it was a beast! Anyway, here are some pictures from FCF, once again compliments of Matthew:
This next bridge picture is one that was taken probably moments before I slipped and fell right on my butt/back... in fact, that might be my falling body at the bottom.... Hmm...
This next one is of the people across from us at the first overlook (where we had talen our group picture earlier). They were shouting for me to throw my big giant snowball over the side... psh, like I needed them to give me the idea. PuhLEASE.
...And now you get to see what my butt looked like after falling on that stupid icy bridge of DEATH.
Anyway, here are a couple more pictures of our view from on top of the falls.
Smells Like Spring Spirit
Current mood: cheerful
Current music:Eden, by Sarah Brightman
I want my Kon doll!!!!!
Dang it, I ordered it over a week ago, and TODAY I got an email saying "The following item(s) has/have been shipped to you. You should be receiving it shortly." Darn right I should!!! I'm annoyed. At least now I know he's on his way to me... *sigh* Just as Becca thought, I will most definitely be carrying him around with me to all my classes and stuff ALL day once I finally get him!!
Anyway, I never did recount the events of last weekend (whoops) - I tend to do that a lot. At any rate, this is the basic breakdown... Katie and Laura went to Laura's house for the whole weekend, so things were a little out of the norm, lol. On Friday night, Michelle F., Matt, Adam, Ashley (for a little while at least), Michelle B., and I watched Doom in Myra's apartment... I pretty much LOVED the first-person sequence, but the rest was... eh. After that, Matt, Adam, Michelle F., and I piled into Matt's car and went driving, desperate for something interesting to do... and we ended up dropping by Taco Bell and then going for a walk in a graveyard (apparently where Matt's grandparents are buried)! After we got cold enough, Matt and us girls got in the car and all crammed into the back seat (haha) and Adam was lurking about outside somewhere for a while before he finally came and sat in the car too. (We did attempt to fit him across all our laps in the back seat, but after a couple minutes, it was just...weird. So he relocated, hehehehe.) We listened to music and talked... and half-slept, really... until it was about 1:15 or 1:30 AM and time to head back.
On Saturday, I did pretty much nothing all day (as usual)... I really don't remember exactly what I did. Wait, yes I do. I was sick. So I slept in really late, missed brunch (oh darn...), made myself some "sickie" food/drink, drugged myself, and watched movies/slept the whole day.... until open dorm. Having slept through dinner, Matt called me while I was sleeping off the tussin gelcaps I'd taken foolishly at 5, forgetting it knocks me out completely, and the poor boy got a taste of my oh-no-you-didn't-just-wake-me-up grumpies. He asked if I was coming down for open dorm, so I told him the meds were still making my head swim and to let me have my nap cuz I didn't want to be falling asleep in their room while trying to watch a movie... Frightenedly, he said ok and went away
(lol poor Matty), and so I went back to sleep. Once down there, Matt, Adam, and I - joined soon after by Ashley and Michelle B. - watched Four Brothers (good stuff!), then Michelle F. came back from the opera and joined us... and I really don't remember what we did next. I only know we were up really, super, butt-late again. If it ever comes to me, I'll let you know, and maybe Michelle or Matt will remember and post a reminder .
On Sunday, I did homework in the grassy bowl with Beth-Beth until about 4, at which time I went down to Peter's house and we went to the Rave to see Underworld: Evolution. I liked the movie, but not as much as the first one, and I'm DEFINITELY glad it wasn't one of the ones I saw with my parents!!! Yikes! I mean, heck, it was awkward enough with Peter.... If I haven't already warned you, ask me about it some time. I don't want to tell people not to see the movie, cuz I still liked it, seriously... but I think I would have liked to have had a heads-up when I saw it, so I'm just passing on the favor I didn't get, lol.
The rest is ancient history. And now Michelle is gone to Italy for the semester (as of Thursday morning, about the time I was probably waking up). It was sort of weird and empty-feeling during lunch, but by dinner I was feeling much better about it all. She'll be back anyway. I'm going to enjoy my semester as it stands. Speaking of enjoying things, as much as I wanted my winter, I gotta confess.... I enjoyed the fact that today, although a bit nippy, sounded and even smelled like spring. The birds were singing when I awoke, and the air just made me feel all... springy. And I liked it!
There's a first time for everything!
Current mood: mellow
Current music:Actually, I'm watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie)
For the first time in my college career... and pretty much in my whole school life, I actually got asked to something. Matt asked me to the Valentine's Banquet! Sure, we're just friends, but we're really good, close friends, and together with our usual group of buddies, I know we're going to have an awesome time. Plus, I now have a legitimate excuse to wear my red dress. ^_^ yay! Now if only I could find a wide-brimmed red hat so I could take Peter's suggestion and go as Carmen Sandiego, bwahahahaha. (for those of you who didn't already know, the theme for this banquet is "The Spy Who Loved Me")
Anyway.... I think I'll save the weekend update until tomorrow (yet another day's worth of suspense to build up, teehee!)
(and now I go to put up another post to help out a friend... well, on my Xanga at least. ~_^)
Weekends are goooood.
Current mood: sick
Current music:Can't Let Go, by Mariah Carey
Sleep = good.
Staying up till 4 AM watching Drive Me Crazy with my buddy Ashobee = better.
But now all fun has gone, my meds are on their way to my bloodstream, and pretty soon I'm going to pass out right where I sit... so I'm off to bed! (thank you, Tussin, the ultimate sleeping drug for congestion!)
Never fear, though, for I will recount the many exciting moments from this weekend ...tomorrow.
Sunday, January 22, 2006
Wow, I'm an idiot! HAHA!
Current mood: ditzy
Current music:Music from Big O, since I'm watching it and all....
So I was reaching into one of the pockets of my bath robe to see if I had stuck any dirty laundry in it... and I found my ID card!!! So now I can actually get into my dorm by myself, yay!! (and I can eat without sneaking around, teehee)
I crack myself sometimes, mostly because I can be quite the airhead... like right now, lol. All that searching, and it was on my person every single morning. Gah...
The calm after the storm...
Current mood: mmmmm, yay for friends!
Current music:Love Me Madly?, by Human League
Okay, so maybe today wasn't calm, per se, but it was fun! (and considerably better than yesterday) ...I slept in, and it was wonderful. Then I got up and took a shower, got locked out of my room in my robe, got Kami to let me in, dressed and went with Dayna, Melissa, and Jackie to David's Bridal. We tried on dresses (already a favorite past-time) and decided on which ones we, the bridal party, will wear.
Then Dayna dropped me off at the $2.50 theater around 4 PM, and I sat in the theater and talked to Kat on the phone until the movie started around 5, and Adam, Matt, and Katie met me there. And yes... I saw Aeon Flux for the third time (Katie's second, Matt & Adam's first). Tres exciting!
After the movie, we went to the mall and ate, shopped, and went to the pet store, weeeee! I would have bought a necklace for my red dress, but there were no (and I mean, NO) earrings that looked good with the one I thought would otherwise be perfect.
After being mallrats until everything closed, we went back to school, grabbed the new Zorro movie (which is not yet available for rental to the general public but is available to our good friend and Blockbuster employee Adam!) and, joined by Michelle, headed down to Peter's house to watch it.
The antics that followed the film were quite... well, "special." Before the movie, I had offered to wash the mountain of dishes at the Fendrich households when Caleb jokingly mentioned their need for cleaning... so when the movie was over, I kept my promise, and Katie came and helped. The guys (Matt and Adam, that is) were being positively goofy, and it was VERY amusing - the best time washing dishes I've ever had, hands down! lol
So here I am, reflecting on a wonderful day, sipping on half a cup of Russian tea (so I only have to pee half as badly in the morning, hahahaha)... and now I think I'll go brush my teeth and hit the hay.
***EDIT***
Oh, I almost forgot to mention the newest changes in my "plans"... It turns out that Dayna chose for our bridesmaids' dresses to be the color "apple" (a.k.a. red). So I was thinking, if Jackie and Melissa don't want to wear their dresses to the Valentiine's banquet NEXT year (and I'm hoping they won't since it'll be my last V-day banquet, while they will have at least one more *crosses fingers*), that means I am free to wear my red dress this year after all! I'm excited! ..well, that is, if they do end up not wearing their dresses nest year and all that blah blah blah. But ya know. w00t. ^_^
A shower never felt so good...
Current mood: accomplished
Current music:Doctor Doctor, by the Thompson Twins
I was picking up trash around Point Park and the Dayton Boat Dock today with Sam and Erica (yes, our leader abandoned us and didn't show up, so it was only us three). Nasty, nasty, nasty! Not as bad as last year, but a lot more dirt! Plus, I found a used condom again this year... the only one in the stupid park, and I had to be the one to find it. Gah. Anyway, I just finished taking a shower and drying my hair... and it feels gooooooood.
A little bit about this weekend, (not so) short and sweet:
Friday (from open dorm onward): I watched Serenity with a bunch of girls and Eric (who brought the movie) in Ashley's room lol... then went to Walmart with Dayna, Melissa, and Chris. It was snowing when we came out, too!!! So we drove back to campus and stood around/danced in it. ^_^
Saturday: I went to Chatty with Dayna and crew, and we went to Hamilton Place Mall and America's Thrift Store. While at JC Penney, I got a red dress for the banquet!! ^_^ (Now here's hoping I can just get a dagum date!) I would describe the dress as a "little black dress" type, except that it's red. And Laura says it looks sort of 40s-ish. And pretty much all the girls love it... and Laura couldn't stop smacking my butt. ¬¬ hahahaha.. She means well - dontcha, Laura? ~_^
Anyway, after we got back and had dinner, for open dorm Michelle and I wandered the guys' dorms until we finally came to Matt's room on Southside. Adam was at work, and Matt was lonely, so we stayed and watched Equilibrium (Michelle and I for the first time actually), and it was sooooo good!
After that, Beth-Beth and I went for a walk, then we went back to her room and watched I Am Sam (another first time for me). It didn't end till 3 AM, and then we laid in bed and talked for another hour. Finally, I left and went back to my room.
Sunday: After lunch, I went and hung out it Katie and Laura's room, and we tried on our dresses (well, at least Ashley and I did ours lol)... then we watched The Swan Princess until it was time to leave for the 4:40 showing of Aeon Flux. I tell you what, that movie is just as good the second time!!! aaahhh!!! and the other girls loved it, so I was pleased with that ^_^.
I think that's everything, except for the random fact that , before my walk with Beth last night, I played with Flip-Flop a bit, and she curled up in my lap cuz she was cold (awwww...). She started to "do the softs," as my family calls it (the thing with the claws they do when they nurse), right into my soft middle!! So I have lovely little red dots and scratches all over my stomach today, lol. I don't care if it stings a little, cuz I'm glad I could keep her warm for even just a little while. I love that cat.
A pleasant conclusion to an initially not-so-pleasant 13th.
Current mood: cheerful
Current music:Feel So Stupid (Table 9), by Darwin's Waiting Room
As you already know, I made a bit of a fool of myself today at lunch... it was definitely one of those Dumb and Dumber moments where I had planned exactly what I was going to say to him and then completely blew it when the crucial time came because I scrambled everything in my brain.
Only in my case, unlike Lloyd(Jim Carrey)'s, I didn't blurt out soimething like "I desperately want to make love to a school boy." I just had no words at all. Smooth, me. Reeeal smooth.
Anyway, on another note, David (Shupe) says I look like this chick in my last Xanga picture, the one with my hat, and creepily enough, we even share a birthday. Friday the 13th strikes again!
On the bright side, I suppose, at least everybody seems to really like my haircut. ^_^ AND it snowed tonight!!! It's supposed to do so again tomorrow, but I'm doubting that... and besides, at least I got to dance around in the snow tonight (even though it was probably more like sleet, but shut up, lol). I also have some good news that I got to talk a little more with Billy, and he even helped me win a game of pool with Michelle (well... okay, so he got two or three balls in before taking his leave, but I still won cuz I made a few really good shots FINALLY... plus, Michelle kept hitting mine in instead of hers on her turns, bwahaha!). Either way, here's hoping I haven't managed to scare him away before he even knows me very well. *crosses fingers*
I've reached a whole new level of idiocy!
Current mood: crazy
Current music:She Drives Me Crazy, by Fine Young Cannibals
I was walking down the stairs to lunch, and Tom Cruise kid (henceforth referred to as Billy - whose first name ironically happens to be Thomas, lol) was walking out of the cafeteria. I panicked. And that, my friends, is never a good thing. I couldn't make myself stop... the words just came. "Excuse me... I... uh..." It was too late to back down now. I had his attention. Crap. I proceeded to ask if it was him walking with David Park last night when Beth-Beth and I were coming back from our nightly walk around the campus, since whoever it was pulled a little Tarzan move, beating his chest and all. We saw them from a distance, so I couldn't be sure, but we laughed as they walked toward and into the dorm... and after a while, a head came peeking around the corner, and we laughed again. Anyway, so I told him we saw someone and laughed, and I wasn't sure if it was him or not, but if it was, we're sorry for laughing. ...what? do you have any better ideas? I couldn't think of any other reason to talk to the guy, sheesh! Either way, he said he would ask David about that later, like it wasn't him... then he said, smiling:
"You're kinda crazy... now what's your name?"
"Sherry..." *whimper*
"Alright, well, I'll ask David about that when I see him.. I'll see you around." (When he said that, I almost thought he was gonna try to hug me or something, but he just patted me on the shoulder. o.O I'm hoping that's a good sign.)
[I then proceed to freak out and run to the table where Michelle and Beth are sitting.. the same table where apparently HE had been sitting moments before.]
Yes. I'm an idiot. And apparently crazy, too. Oh wait, I knew that already. (but he wasn't supposed to! *whines*)
P.S. I hope you all appreciate the humor in my music choice for right now.
Tom Cruise kid!!!
Current mood: curious
Current music:This Is Not A Game, by Buck 250 (from D&D the movie)
There is more for me to tell about what's been going on lately, but at the moment I only have 20 minutes till I need to leave for class, so...... I will tell you one exciting thing:
There is a dude. A transfer, I think, given the fact that I've never seen him before in my life (and believe me, I'd have remembered). He looks almost exactly like Tom Cruise, I kid you not! I have witnesses who were just as amazed as I was (and am!) - Ben, Jo, and Dallas. I want to know who this kid is, but until I know, I shall call him "Tom Cruise kid" instead. (Not to his face, of course.)
School days.... bah.
Current mood: happy
Current music:Kashmir, by Bond (Led Zeppelin cover)
Classes start tomorrow. Please, no. Oh well... today I was so happy - and for no reason at all that I can see! It was amazing. It definitely felt amazing. To be happy and not to have that happiness depend on any given singular thing or person is so incredibly freeing!! I feel good! I feel great! I feel wonderful! Even with Fred at my side, I can hardly be unhappy right now. Strange, isn't it? I really don't know how to explain it, but I like it either way.
As a side note, I'm impressed by the results of the following quiz:
Your Birthdate: February 23
You're not good at any one thing, and that's the problem.
You're good at so much - you never know what to do.
Change is in your blood, and you don't stick to much for long.
You are destined for a life of travel and fun.
Your strength: Your likeability
Your weakness: You never feel satisfied
Your power color: Bright yellow
Your power symbol: Asterisk
Your power month: May
I dunno about some of the stuff, such as the yellow thing, but asterisk as my power symbol?? Holy junk, yes! It's my *action text* symbol of choice! ^_^ Most of the other stuff is rather accurate, too. Suh-weeeeeet.... okay, I'm going to bed now. G'night, my lovelies!
